How it works

Three steps, and the last one is pressing a button.

  1. Connect both accounts

    You sign in on Dropbox's and Google's own pages. We never see your passwords.

  2. Pick what to copy

    Tick the folders you want, then choose the folder they should go into.

  3. Press Start copy

    We tell you how long it will take. You can close the page, and we'll email you when it's done.

Why not just download and re-upload?

That's the usual way to switch, and it's slow, fiddly and easy to get wrong. Here is what Flitterby does instead.

Your computer isn't involved
Downloading 200 GB means finding 200 GB of free space, then leaving your computer on for days while it uploads again. Flitterby copies straight from one account to the other, so your computer can be off.
Your originals are never touched
It only copies. Nothing in the account you copy from is moved or deleted. It stays exactly as it is until you decide otherwise.
You can see that it worked
When a copy finishes you see which files arrived and how each one was checked, and a plain list of anything that didn't. The record shows the check performed for each file: destination checksum, source checksum, reported destination size, or upload acknowledgement only. Converted Google Docs have no byte-for-byte check.
Interruptions don't start it over
If a copy is stopped partway, it carries on from where it stopped rather than from the beginning.
We don't keep your files
Your files stream straight through and are never saved on our servers. When the copy is done, there is no copy of your file to delete, because there never was one.

Not sure how much you have? A full Dropbox Plus account holds 2 TB.

Only what arrives is deducted. A file that fails to copy costs nothing, and a copy you stop halfway only uses what it actually moved.

Use it in as many goes as you like. Copy your photos this week and your documents next month. Whatever is left stays in your account.

Nothing is charged during the private beta. These are the prices for when it opens, published now so nobody is surprised by them later.

Good to know before you start

iCloud isn't supported
Apple provides no way for a service to read iCloud Drive on your behalf, so nobody can copy out of it for you. Anything claiming otherwise is using something unofficial.
Big copies can take more than a day
Google accepts about 750 GB a day into one account. A copy bigger than that pauses and carries on by itself the next day, and Flitterby tells you how long it will take before you start.
Google Docs become Word files
Google Docs, Sheets and Slides arrive as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. The conversion is Google's own and not perfect, and a document too large for Google to export (over 10 MB) is flagged rather than cut short.
Some storage services charge to send
Flitterby doesn't charge for bandwidth, and nor do Dropbox or Google Drive. Services like Amazon S3, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi may charge the account you copy from for reading data out, and some charge per file. Check their pricing before a large copy.
Keep your originals until you've checked
Flitterby is new and in private testing. Before you delete anything from your old account, open the copy and make sure it's all there. The Check a copy page will compare the two for you.

These permissions allow reading file and sharing metadata, reading contents, and writing or deleting files. Flitterby reads the files you choose and creates destination copies. A same-name copy uses Dropbox's automatic rename rather than replacing the existing file. Flitterby may delete a failed copy it created when a verification check fails; it does not delete your source originals.

Google Drive

Google's drive permission allows reading, creating, changing and deleting Drive files. Flitterby uses it to browse and copy your selected files and folders and create destination copies. It may delete a failed destination copy it created when verification fails; it does not delete your source originals. Your Google email identifies the connected account. Your passwords

Never requested, never seen

Connections are made through each provider's own authorization screen. You can revoke Flitterby from your provider's security settings at any time. Revocation prevents further authorized access once the provider applies it; a request already in flight may finish. Full privacy policy.
